Pinterest Image Pin for WordPress

Due to continued support from the community I am now planning a rebuild of this plugin. If there are any features you would like to see, please drop them in the comments and I’ll add to my dev plan.

This Pinterest plugin will enable your sites visitors to pin individual images on Pinterest, the pin button will appear just underneath every image in the main content.

It gives you the option to chose from the 3 versions of pinterest buttons to apply to your post images.

It also has the option to add a Pinterest follow button to the bottom of your posts.

  • Ability to turn on and off per image by using css class “no-pin”

I installed your plugin on my WordPress site. Now what? Is there a place in the left-hand menu to set up parameters? I’m confused which at my age is nothing new. :-)

    Thanks for your help.

    • Shane Jones says:

      Hi Cyndi,

When installed head to the settings tab on the left of your admin screen, hover over it and select “Pinterest Image Pin” to see your settings.

      Thanks for downloading. :)

        Hi Shane,
The plugin looks great – chose my options, checked my username – and it is still not working on my website… any suggestions?

      • Lisa says:

        Hi Shane,
I have gone ahead and installed your plugin. The placement is great but I have a wide white background across the bottom of my images where the pinit button is. Is there a way to change to white backround bar color so it blends with my website background? I’ve gone ahead and deactivated it for now.
PS when will the updated version be released?

  2. Adam says:

i put the code on it as well it’s nice thanks for it social media rocks

  3. Linda Hale says:

    Great instructions!

Do you have a pin that lets people click and pin things on their board on pinterest???

  4. Hi!

Thanks for the plugin… however, i tried to install it but then each pin it appeared not below each image but on the right hand side (close to the border) for each image…and sometimes it changed the alignment of my text. Hence, unfortunately i had to desactivate it for now… waiting for a new update?

    Thanks
    Helene

    • Shane Jones says:

      Hi Helene,

Thanks for the feedback. By the sounds of it, some of the styling is conflicting with some other styles on your blog. Was it on your redanalysis.org blog?

      Thanks

      Shane

      • Gary says:

Shane, this works great on my gallery images in prophoto3 but I dont see it on the images in my main blog content.. Is that due to the size of images relative to the blog space?
        Any recommendations?
        Thanks!

        • Shane Jones says:

Can you share a URL you are having issues with and I can take a look when I get 5.

          Thanks

          • Ben says:

I have the same issue, but I’ll be changing the layout of the main view so this should be a non-issue. The button is still viewable in the entry-view, but I was wondering where the CSS for the button is? I’d like to customize the button if that’s possible.

          • Shane Jones says:

You can find the CSS in your plugin directory in the folder pinterest-image-pin

Custom CSS will be in the next major release.

            Thanks

  5. Wayne Rowe says:

    Hi

Having a similar issue as Helene. I would like the Pin It button to be below my photos but it appears to want to align it to the left and is also interfering with the photo itself. A center-bottom alignment would be great. I’ve had to disable the plugin for now but will enable if an update can address this.

    Thanks

    Wayne

  6. Sharon says:

Amazing plugin, exactly what i really needed, but yes, your plugin makes some of my pics align theirselves to the left even thou they were set as center, and pin it button works best at the center.

Before you publish the newer version of the plugin, is it possible if you share the code we should add or change in plugin settings to set the pin it button in the center please?

    Thanks

  7. matt haines says:

Hi Shane. I think I’ve found a bug. When I have the image-pin plug in installed, certain images won’t appear in the post preview. Even though they show up in the editor. When I deactivate the plug in, they display just fine in the preview. Any idea what’s up?

  8. mike says:

    Shane,

THANKS for this plugin! I am enjoying it a LOT!
I would liket o point out something that is happening that is kinda in the way for me, and maybe others:
    http://peshphoto.com/lewis-monica-orange-county-family-photography/

See the very first pin it button? Under the post text and above the first image? Well, when clicked, it does not have a photo included… The rest are fine :)

i’d love to have the first one removed… any way that can be done? I’m pretty good at editing code but I’m not that good at dissecting THEN modifying… Can you help a brother out?

    Thanks a TON!
    Mike

  9. Kevin says:

Love this plugin, and it works great. Feature request: Pin It button only appears on individual posts. It would be great if the button appears as you are just scrolling down through the blog as well. Thanks for your great work!

  10. Tom Hansen says:

Hi Shane. Awesome plugin! I’ve set up my first WP site and am learning as I go. I installed your pinterest plugin yesterday and updated it today to latest version 0.4. I am noticing that my images with captions have the caption replaced by the pinterest button and the actual caption is pushed down quite a bit. You can see what I mean at http://www.russellhampton.com/blog. Thought you might like to address this if you think it’s something you would like to change. Thanks again, Tom

    • Shane Jones says:

This will be something to do with a style that you have in your theme that is conflicting with the plugin styles. The next major release will have custom styling to help address these. Thanks.

  11. matt haines says:

Doesn’t appear to be a small-file issue, because I see other blogs using the pinterest plugin (I assume it’s yours) and they have much smaller sizes. Mine are all 640 px wide by whatever tall.

  12. Sharon says:

    Helloooo,

Any news on the new version :) ? Still waiting

    • Shane Jones says:

      Hi Sharon :)

I’m just waiting for my full time commitments to calm down a bit. Building up a feature request list though for the next major version.

You’ll be the first to know about it :)

      Thanks

  13. Love the plugin – perfect, but would also love to be able to centralise the button. Hope this feature comes out soon. Many thanks for the great plugin!

  14. Hey! Very awesome plugin, thanks so much for it! I do however have a question. How can I remove the pin it button from a certain picture? For example : If I post a picture on a page and not a blog post and I don’t want that particular picture to have a pin it button can I attach a CSS code for that particular image? Please HELP ASAP :)

  15. JP says:

Triggered a fatal error on install.

  16. Works the best of those I’ve tried so far. But it’s really messing up the styling of my images.

Would be nice if you could pickup and use the caption as the default description.

    • Shane Jones says:

Image caption as description is something I am looking into. Makes the process smoother really. I am releasing an update to the plugin today, this may fix your styling issue. Thanks

  17. Cups says:

I installed it but don’t see the button showing up…what am I doing wrong? I checked and it is activated so I should be good to go right? What am I missing?

  18. Brad says:

Any word on when a “no-class” update will be live?

  19. Sammie Magro says:

    can i have your twitter?

  20. Sharon says:

    Still waiting :)

No news? When i saw the update in wordpress i felt very happy but then i noticed that it was a tiny update, nothing new nearly :)

Can`t you at least put the `center` issue faster? The pics appear in the center but the pin button on the left of the page, looks a bit bad.

  21. First off thanks for the plugin, i can see you are actually responding to your followers which is great :D

Your plugin is the only plugin that works for me (i get blank image containers with the text “media” for others.

However your plugin makes the pinit button appear on top of the image rather then underneath with a white 500pix x 50pix or so transparent line appear :( wish i could use it though.

  22. Kim Dionne says:

    Hi Shane:

I installed the Pin It and it works Thanks. My question is how do you change the style of the button. Right now it just says Pin It in plain text. How do I get the actual button with the logo.

  23. Leo Dj says:

    Hi Shane,
I was trying to install the Pinterest plugin, but after I activated it, the button doesn’t appear below the image. It was on the image at the bottom side. It also created a white bar across the image where the button was.

I had to use another plugin which doesn’t have the white bar across the image, although I prefer that the button is not on the image, but just right below the image. Hence, I wanted to use your plugin at first.

I use url link to display the images.

  24. Max Goldberg says:

    Hello,

LOVE this plugin. I don’t want it on one page of my site though — How do I remove it from just one page? thanks.

  25. max says:

any ETA on “no-pin” class? I’ll reactivate when that’s live. I know it’s in the next version, but any thoughts on when? Thanks!

  26. For some reason my pin it button is just text. Id that correct or is it suppose to look like the actual pinterest pin it button? Here is my blog just to show you what it is doing

    http://gomoxiestudio.com/blog/2012/06/06/las-vegas-wedding-photography-arlene-parviz/

Also if you go to my main blog http://www.gomoxiestudio.com/blog it doesn’t show up on the images there but only once you have clicked on the individual blog posts, do you happen to know if there is a way to change that?

    Thanks!!!

  27. Anish says:

    HI Shane,

I have been using this plugin, its good and thanx for sharing it.

But can you add some functionality like

    1) ability to place the button on the image itself

    2) ability to place the “follow me on pinterest” button as a hover over the image itself.

  28. hello,

i installed your plugin and i like the way it appears underneath the images. however, the button doesn’t appear under images when one is visiting my root domain. in other words, one has to go into the post URL itself to see the images. i decided to uninstall it because most blog subscribers read the latest post via the root URL.

are you considering a fix for this? i’d be happy to re install it and use it.

    thanks

  29. Vana says:

I tried adding the plugin to my blog, like many otheres it’s not showing up. What do I need to do to get it to work correct.

    Thanks

    Shane,

Great plugin. Have read the comments and an option to exclude certain images would be great. I have images that go to a shopping card and all the other plugins I used conflicted with the pinterest end. But I would like to remove the pinterest button if I could. Here is the site were it works http://printablepaperproducts.com/printable-crafts/paper-llama-template

I might have missed this request but an option to move the button a bit further down would be great as well. Great job keep up the good work.

    Thanks again Harry

  32. Wayne (Wirs) says:

I think it’s a bug, but it would be a nice feature too to give the user the option:

On my home page (which lists the blog posts), the pin it button and follow buttons do NOT show (I would like them to): http://waynewirs.com

On an ARCHIVE page, they DO show: http://waynewirs.com/2012/08/

On a CATEGORY page, they do NOT show: http://waynewirs.com/category/enlightenment/mystical-oneness/

It would be nice if there was an option for these.

To help with debugging the “bug”, on my local test site I have the STATIC PAGE setting ON (my live site it is off) and on the local site, the buttons DO show.

    Hi Shane,

I activated this plugin and set the button options but the button is not actually showing up under any of the pictures. What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you for any help!

  34. Hello! I installed plug-in, Activated it- and at first it showed up. Now, its gone.

I even uninstalled and re-installed. LOVE the plug-in and would be thrilled to use it.
    Any ideas?

  35. Kelsey Lakia says:

will this work with advanced galleries on wp? Themes, etc? I’m using invictus and I’ve installed so many of these, I just need ONE that will work :)

  36. lori says:

    Hi there!

I love the functionality, but it appears really wonky across the bottom of my images. There is a “bar” that goes across the entire bottom of my photos and causes distortion. And for the life of me I can’t figure out why! Could you help? THANK YOU!!!!

  37. Aimee says:

Hi! I’ve used the plugin for a while and just recently it has started to cause photos grids and text to cross over the margins of my blog. Any idea how to fix it? Many thanks!!

  39. zandra zuraw says:

    Hi,
Is this plugin for blog posts only or can I use it on each photo I have on my Pages within my wordpress.com website? (It seems that most Pin It plugins require you to add the code for the Pin It button after each post by typing in the URL of the post and the photo. But “pages” on my wordpress.com site don’t seem to work the same way).

  40. zandra zuraw says:

Does this plugin work for each photo on my Pages section of my wordpress.com site? It seems that most Pin It plugins are meant for blog posts. And it also seems that “posts” are different from “pages” on wordpress. In my case, I have several photos on a “page” and those photos don’t have a URL that I can add the plugin code to. The photos are simply loaded into my Media section on wordpress and then I select which page i want them to go on. So…can you help me understand if this is the right plugin for me?
    Thank you!

  41. Installed, saved settings, even logged in and out again, but the button isn’t appearing on any image at all. Any idea why?
it’s on the blog link above.
    http://jaebaeli.com/blog

Is there a away to have a sharing button to simply share the blog post on pinterest?

    thanks for any help.

  42. never ind. i pinned to pinterest myself and then when it opened my site the button appeared. Seems to be working now. Not sure what that was about. I cleaned my cache and logged out and in and such. Anyway–thanks. this is very helpful.

    • spoke too soon. It seems that the pin button shows up SOMETIMES, but not others. when i simply go to my blog and look at entries, it’s not there. If i go at it through another link, the button DO appear. Any idea what this is about and how to fix it?

  43. Cassy says:

Hi Shane! Thanks so much for this plugin! I have installed it, checked my settings, and it is activated…but the button is not showing up on my images on my website. When I write a post and click to see a preview of it, the button shows up. But when I publish the post and go to my website, the button is nowhere. Am I doing something wrong???

  44. Bev Compton says:

Just downloaded your Pinterest Image button and don’t know where to go from here. I have chosen styles and saved settings. How do I add the button to each image? I’ve gone thru everything and can’t figure it out. Thanks!

  46. Lisa says:

    Hi Shane,
I just updated to the latest verion of wordpress and I am not sure if it has anything to do with it but now my right sidebar is dropping down to below my posts only on my home page. Post pages it looks fine. When I deactivate your pinterest plugin the sidebar fixes itself. I deactivated for now because of this issue. I love having the pinit button below my photos and want to keep using it. Any ideas on why it is causing my sidebar to drop below my posts and how to fix it?

Anyway, being able to turn the button off when needed is my main priority in a Pinterest Button. Help appreciated.

    • Elisabeth M says:

p.s. I realize the comment just deleted all the example code I entered. Whoops. What I wanted to add was, why does the button sometimes show up at the top of the image, in a separate bar, and sometimes at the bottom with ghosted opacity? I like the bottom version best, just curious.

  50. Amy says:

Hi! I have deleted this plugin since I couldn’t get it to work & there was no longer support. But the code for it is still showing up in my blog button code, which is really odd because that code isn’t showing before it’s published. Do you know how I can remove it?
